These days getting face time with doctors is increasingly difficult. A recent study showed that 52 percent of doctors say, “buzz off” to reps. In addition, more than 65 percent of all sales rep visits are sample drops in which the sales rep does not see the physician. But many doctors want visits from reps – especially specialty reps who understand the science of your product and can have a clinical conversation.

Dr. Laws responds to the offer, logs onto the pharmaceutical company’s physician portal, and orders a 30-day supply of samples.
Sales rep John Stevens sees that Dr. Laws has ordered samples of the Parkinson’s disease drug. From experience, he knows that Dr. Laws is extremely busy but wants to be kept informed about any label changes on his drug’s products. He calls Dr. Laws’ receptionist and schedules a time to drop off samples and discuss the product. When he visits Dr. Laws, he is able to drop off the samples, describe changes to the product’s label, and invites him to look at the latest e-detail on the product.
